Ranking the 12 teams at Tiburon GC

Golf’s silly season continues on in Florida for the QBE Shootout

The PGA Tour will go about a month without a stroke play event, but the folks in Ponte Vedra are still giving us content to consume. This week it comes in the form of the QBE Shootout. It’s a two-player team event that’s been one of Greg Norman’s baby since it originated in 1989 as the Shark Shootout.

The event began at Sherwood Country Club in California for 11 years, moved to Doral in Florida for a year and has settled at Tiburon Golf Club in Naples, Florida, since 2001.

Tiburon is a pretty standard Florida course measuring 7,288 yards for a par 72.

It’s a three-round, 54-hole event beginning Friday. Round one is a scramble, round two is modified alternate shot and round three is best ball.

There are some decent names in the field this week. It’s not going to totally get my juices flowing, but seeing a unique format like this is always welcoe.

Here’s my best guess at how the 12 teams shake out on Sunday:
